Egress Kit

EGRESS kits are packaged in a fire & heat resistant Defender 750 pouch. To use, simply open outer pouch, grasp the Autolocking Rigging Carabiner and pull from bag. The Autolocking Rigging Carabiner at the end of the EGRESS Personal Escape Rope can be attached to a rigging point or clipped back onto the EGRESS line with a tensionless tie-off. Attach Escape Descender to a proper escape belt or harness and your ready to go. (Note: Proper training and practice is required of any type of rappel). Pouch is machine washable. The EGRESS NFPA Personal Escape Rope offers a greater degree of safety for rescuers and firefighters. Construction is easy to hold with structural firefighting gloves. Yarn Melt Point: 900 Degrees Fahrenheit (retains strength during long-term exposure to 160 Degrees Celsius).

New Manikins and Manikin Accessories from Ruth Lee

2011 saw the introduction of the updated versions of the Ruth Lee Water Rescue Training Manikins. What was a single unit in 2 colors is now 2 totally different units. The new Man Overboard Manikin is built to the same tough construction standard as the General Use Manikin. It is designed to simulate a pfd wearing, unconscious victim in the water, floating at an angle of 45 degrees with just the head and shoulders above the water. It can be made to float horizontally by simply removing the 4 foam pieces from the front chest of the overall and adding two pieces of foam to the pockets on each leg. It just takes seconds to swap between a horizontally floating manikin and the standard position. The Search & Rescue manikins are a completely new model for water rescue - manufactured differently from the Man overboard version. The S&R model will be more borderline when it comes to buoyancy and will only be suitable for inland/calm water. It will have 6 pieces of foam to the front overall pocket which can be removed to reduce buoyancy further. A 20 lb 'divers pack' weighted vest clips to the dummy carcass over or under the overall. This 20 lbs coupled with the reduced foam inside the dummy will quickly sink it to the bottom for diver/lifeguard training. Additionally, there is a mesh hood included in the 'divers pack' showing a total weight of 110 lbs for when the additional weight vest is added. The head of the S&R model has a mesh panel on the top of the head to allow the air to exit and the manikin to sink more quickly. Both the Man Overboard and the Search and Rescue Manikins are available in Adult (88 lbs/5’11”) and Youth (44lbs./4’3”) Adult: 88 lbs, 5'11

Also new is the upgrade to the Fire Resistant Manikins. Previous manikins had what we termed a lollypop shaped head. Now, they are available with a more anatomically shaped head. Click here to see these New Manikins yourself.

Ruth Lee has introduced face masks and a CPR version manikin. The face mask fits directly onto the head of the Ruth Lee manikin and gives it a little more personality as well as eyes, nose, and mouth. The CPR version adds a Simulaids CPR torso to a rescue training manikin and allows instructors to add one more level of realism in their rescue scenarios. By incorporating the torso, rescuers can “work” a realistic feeling training manikin.

I have saved the best for last. Just introduced is the Ruth Lee ShoutBox. This is a unit that lets the manikin talk to the rescuer, give brief commands, moan, and much more. The best thing about the unit is it will retro-fit onto all Ruth Lee Youth and Adult manikins with an anatomically shaped head. This means that you have a multitude of weight and height selections for a more realistic training.

Some of the best training manikin ideas that I have seen have come from Ruth Lee. All their manikins come complete with reinforced coveralls, loop for hanging storage, and Replaceable boots on adult manikins. With the addition of the shout box you are not limited to just a 55 lb. or 110 lb. manikin. You can place it onto any of the weights; from the popular 66 lb to the jumbo 400 lb. And, any manikin in between. The Shoutbox can be moved from manikin to manikin – giving you the greatest versatility of any interactive technical rescue training manikin. The Arachnipod - The Multipod for Everyone

At the Arachnipod demo in Greenville, SC I was able to witness the Arachnipod Multipod in use and actually test it at the training facility. This experience gave me an appreciation for the device and helped me realize why RescueTECH decided to carry it. While listening to the presenter Jeff Mathews, the Lead Instructor at TrainingTECH, I was able to not only learn how the Arachnipod works but to understand why its better. Most multipods are designed for use by the top 5 percent of technical rescuers; however, the Arachnipod is simple enough to be used by the other 95 percent. The design of the Arachnipod is why this is possible. For instance, the legs on all other mulitpods are circular shaped while the Arachnipod has rectangular shaped legs. This helps lining up the holes to insert the pin much easier. Imagine when one puts up an E-Z Up pop up tent, they are called easy for a reason, the legs are squared so its simple to match up the holes with the pins. And then theres the pin, unlike other multipods the Arachnipod has the pins attached by wire cable to the device itself. This simple design makes sure that when your on top of a cliff or high spot that you don't drop one and make you rescue effort obsolete. Another bonus to the Total Edge Management System is the versatility of the device. It can be used as a mono-pod, bi-pod, tripod, quad-pod, or my favorite the bridge system. The bridge system is only available with the Arachnipod and is great for trenches or areas that need to be spanned. The firefighters in Greenville were able to test out the feature with little training and appreciate its function. And that brings me to my last point about the Demo, the fact that the demo was hands on and let the firefighters use the device. At another demo I sat through, the presenters were the only ones to use it. Why is that? Is it that difficult to use? Either way it was off-putting and very boring. What is TacticalTECH?

This may be a question one may ask if they see the link on every page on our site or may have heard about it from a friend. In short, it’s a no-brainer extension of RescueTECH to offer a different type of equipment intended for different uses than our rescue equipment. TacticalTECH isn’t a way for RescueTECH to sell the same equipment but in military colors, it is a way for us to use our expertise in designing equipment for a different clientele. This customer is looking for something with less weight, more functionality and expandability, and more compact. This is exactly what we will offer and do so with our customer’s best interest in mind.

Leading our venture into the tactical arena is our head of design Cory Hulsey who has used his knowledge and vision to create some truly unique products. Cory has been with RescueTECH for over ten years and before that with the climbing equipment company Blue Water. By combing his knowledge of high strength rescue equipment and lightweight climbing equipment he has been able to create bags and gear that will be ideal for tactical rescue operations. With this knowledge he has incorporated MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment or MOLLE into our bags, which has given us the ability to create excellent technical gear that allows the user to expand their gear to specific situations and uses. In the coming weeks we will be adding new gear and equipment designed for TacticalTECH by our in house team. We will be adding new rope, webbing, bags, and kits all intended for tactical rescue operations.

TacticalTECH will have the same customer staff as RescueTECH and will continue to offer our customers excellent service. Valerie Arp is the team leader of our staff and will be happy to answer any questions regarding our tactical equipment. New Training Division Offers Expert Technical Rescue Training

After constant inquiries and questions from customers we decided to start a training division in order to serve our customers in a new way. Starting this venture meant that we had to find the best teachers around to instruct our customers in the most professional and safest way possible. Our search led us to Charlotte North Carolina firefighter Jeff Mathews. Jeff is a member of NCTF-3 and has been training technical rescue for more than 15 years. He is also a published author and has two titles through Cengage Learning, Technical Rescue: Rope Levels I and Rope Levels II and Technical Rescue Awareness. With Jeff as the Director of Training and Lead Instructor we have been able to offer high quality training with experienced professionals. The Team Includes: Steve Drozd, Dominick Briganti, Paul Chiappetta, Eric Depoto, Steve Treinish, and Tim Rogers. All of these Lead Instructors offer training on the different aspects of rescue including; rope rescue/access, Confined space, trench, SCT, RHEC, VMR, and water rescue. The website TrainingTECH1 lists all of our classes along with information on how to sign up. In the coming months we will be adding an interactive calender with all of the dates along with pictures straight form each class. New Improvements at Rescue Tech

Rescue Technology has been an integral part of the rescue equipment industry since 1982 and has offered an extensive line of quality products to the technical rescue professionals for almost three decades. We will continue to offer a wide variety of equipment while serving our customers and getting them the right product to fit their rescue needs. My name is Paul Grey and I run the website along with the eCommerce, sales, and new product additions and changes. I assembled kits, built pulleys and other hardware, cut rope, and did pretty much anything having to do with products going in and out of the warehouse until I graduated from The University of Georgia a year ago. My goal with this blog is to inform customers and rescuers of changes to the site and inform them on all info regarding Rescue Tech and rescue equipment associated with the company. We will soon be posting videos and photos of products and product testing that occurs on a daily basis here. Starting a month ago my first task was to update the clearance section and add new products to the site. One will notice that the clearance section has more products and that there is now a new products section in the top of the categories section. Everything in the clearance section (http://www.rescuetech1.com/clearance.aspx) can only be purchased through the website and will show up in stock until we are out. Updates to the clearance section are made every week and whenever I update them I make a post to our Twitter page at http://twitter.com/#!/rescuetechn.
